This being the Newsletter of illustrator and comics creator Martin Simpson.
Why… hello there! Welcome to the first edition of a (hopefully) regular Newsletter!
I’m Martin Simpson, a freelance illustrator and comics creator based in the UK. If you’re new to me you can check out my work from the linked pic below…
My hope is that this Newsletter will prove to be the best possible way to keep up to date with everything I’m working on (and planning to work on).
So… without further ado, here we go
…
RASP:
It’s the project that this Newsletter is named after… and for good reason… as ‘Rasp’ is my current work in progress. Can’t say too much about it yet… but here’s the cover to a very limited edition Ashcan I’ve recently put together for TCAF in May (more on that later).
And here’s the first few interior pages to give you a flavour…
When I have more news to share about ’Rasp’… this Newsletter is where you’ll find it first!
NORD:
Towards the end of last year my first graphic novel ‘NORD’ was published by Soaring Penguin Press. I'm delighted to say it has been incredibly well received… I really have been bowled over with the feedback… so very encouraging!
You can find out more about the book by clicking the image below…
SPECIAL OFFER: You can order ‘NORD’ pretty much wherever books are sold. However… if you order it from my own Etsy Store I’ll sign it for you AND slip in a FREE ORIGINAL A6 ART CARD too! This is for the Newsletter posse only! Just message me the code ‘THE RASP REPORT’ when you checkout to claim your prize (limited to 3 art cards only peeps - one per book ordered).
NEWSFLASH! SALE!
To celebrate the start of my Newsletter… I’m also doing a week long Etsy sale on ‘NORD’! Yay! Now yours for £20 (that’s a fiver off) from now until next Friday (26.04.24).
Free P+P in the UK!
The link to my Etsy store is… here.
2024 Appearances…
TORONTO COMICS ART FESTIVAL:
In around a months time (11th-12th May) - I’ll be winging my way to TCAF - The Toronto Comic Arts Festival along with Jason Chuang, Isabel Greenberg, Clio Isadora, B. Mure and Bex Ollerton.
We’ll all be there flying the flag for British Comics Now! Click the pic below for more info…
This is all thanks to thanks to an initiative from the Lakes International Comic Art Festival (LICAF), funded by Arts Council England, The Adlard Family Charitable Foundation and The British Council!
I was blown away when asked to do this… a real honour… and I’m soooo looking forward to my little adventure across the Atlantic! I’ll report back on the whole thing here (once I’ve recovered from the dreaded jet lag of course!)
THOUGHT BUBBLE 2024:
I try never to miss the Thought Bubble so I’m delighted to say I’ll be exhibiting again this year. It very conveniently takes place in my home county of Yorkshire (just over an hours drive from where I live in fact) and I personally think it’s one of the best cons in the entire world! I can’t recommend a visit highly enough if you’ve never been.
Hope to see you there on the 16th-17th November 2024!
Ok… I think that’s more than enough for now.
Speak soon and thanks for your time!
Best, Martin
Wow! Look what I got in my Inbox. The internet has found me somehow. I supported Misc. on Kickstarter ... which isn't mentioned anywhere on your Portfolio. Good luck.
